We represent disabled individuals in cases before the Social Security claims, private and employer-sponsored disability insurance (long-term disability) policies, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.  You can find out more about these unique areas by exploring our practice areas, above.

The Social Security Administration and insurance companies evaluate disability by determining an individual’s limitations based on all of his or her impairments.  The VA on the other hand, reviews a claim for disability compensation based on the individual disease or are of the body affected.  As a result, people with many different impairments, even some that may not often be thought of as “disabling,” when combined with other problems, may qualify for benefits.  As you look through our website, you will see that our practice is focused on assisting disabled and injured individuals obtain the benefits they need whether from the Social Security Administration, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Employer sponsored or private disability insurance, or Workers Compensation.

Some examples of people who may qualify for social security disability benefits, include:

A 50 year-old who has performed physical work for the past fifteen years and can no longer stand and walk for extended periods due to severe back pain;

A 31 year-old suffering from severe depression and anxiety, which prevents the individual from reliably showing up to work, instead missing work three or four times a month;

A 44 year-old with multiple sclerosis, who is unable to maintain focus on any task for more than thirty minutes at a time as a result of her symptoms;

A 38 year-old with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, who has to lie down for up to two hours each day.

This is just a sampling of some of the kinds of problems which may lead to an award of disability benefits through Social Security, the VA, or an LTD insurance policy.  Some of the other impairments our successful clients have struggled with over the years include:

This list can never be comprehensive as disability is a tremendously personal experience.  How an individual experiences pain or fatigue, for example, can vary a great deal, and so an impairment that may be tolerable for one person, can be debilitating for another.  If you feel your impairments prevent you from performing competitive work, or, in the case of the VA, are related to your service, call us for a case review, and we’ll see if we can help.
